  4. This document briefly outlines new features and enhancements that have been added to the StuffIt Lite package.  For more detailed information and instructions on some of the major features, please read the User's Guide Addendum located in the "Read Us First!" folder.

  10. • Added a new "Replace" option
  11.      When you Stuff a file or folder and a file or folder with that name already exists, you are now given the opportunity to have StuffIt replace the old file or folder with the new one.  
  12. • Added 44Mb and 88Mb segment size options.
  13. • Added HFS Interchange Disk segment size option.
  14. • Self-extracting archives are now smaller than those created by previous versions.
  15. • Corrected some annoyances when scripting with Add Match by Date.
  16. • Improved support for applications which support Anti-viral Apple events.

  21.        Compression of files is up to 5% faster than earlier 3.0.X versions.
  22.        Decompression of files is up to 10% faster than earlier 3.0.X versions.

  24.      - the program is now much more responsive during Compression/Decompression
  25.      - SEAs are now smaller & more robust
  26.      - translators can now be called from AppleScript

  31.      Includes examples for scripting with Frontier and AppleScript.
  32. • StuffIt Lite now uses Aladdin's InstallerMaker™ for it's installer instead of a standard SEA.  This gives the user much more control over the installation process.

  39.      - the program will no longer unexpectedly quit when converting older archives.
  40.      - you are now able to rearrange the order of encrypted items in an archive. 
  41.      - when creating segmented SEA's, the file count is now always correct.
  42.      - doing a Save As over an existing file will correctly update Finder information.

  56. • Auto-Segmenting Archives (Including Self-Extracting Archives)
  57.     You can now create an archive (or Self-Extracting archive) which spans multiple disks. Begin by creating an archive as normal. Then, with the archive open within the StuffIt application, choose “Save As…” from the File menu and optionally click the “Self-Extracting” check box. Select (or insert) the disk to save the first segment onto and click “Save”. If the archive can not fit on this first destination disk, you will be prompted for additional disks until the archive is completely saved.

  60.     A new preference has been added which will cause StuffIt to display the small icon (including color ones) for any item instead of generic ones. The small icons that StuffIt uses are the same ones that the Finder displays.

  62. • Compression Updating
  63.     When copying or moving a file from an older archive into a 3.0 archive, you will be given the option of having the file recompressed using the powerful 3.0 compression method to save more space. Remember that you must be registered to open more than one archive.

  65. • Support For System 7.1 And WorldScript
  66.     StuffIt now supports improved handling of non-roman based languages, including asian (Japanese, Chinese, etc.) text. Inline input of asian languages is now supported. Version 3.0.3 also provides better handling of all international characters within file names.

  68. • New Apple Events For Automating StuffIt
  69.     New Apple events include Copy/Move, Get/Set Label, Convert 1.5.1, Cut, Copy, Paste, and Clear. These Apple events become active only after you’re a registered user of StuffIt Lite. A revised Userland Frontier 2.0 install file including updated DocServer text, is available to help you with these new events.
